How to wear your sarong

Bali Style

To tie your sarong Bali style, place it around the back of your body, holding each upper corner.  Hold the corner of the sarong in your left hand on your right hip, then wrap the rest of the sarong around your body until the corners meet, then tie the two together in a secure knot.  After time you will find you will be able to position the border pattern of your sarong to be exactly where you would like it to show, this can be achieved by adjusting the positioning of the corner that sits in the left hand.  For example you may prefer your border pattern to be displayed at the front or to one side.

Fuller hipped ladies have found they too can achieve this look by simply sewing on a length of ribbon to the corner of the sarong that sits in your right hand.  This then wraps around the back to meet the other corner where it is secured as before.

Dress Style

To achieve this look wrap your sarong around the back of your body holding each upper corner of the sarong, pull the corners diagonally across your chest and secure around the back of your neck. This style is easy to wear during the day or evening and can be dressed-up with accessories to create an individual look.

Dress Style over Trousers

To achieve the look in this picture tie as explained in dress style and complement with your favourite summer trousers.  This style is not only perfect as a casual look but can easily be dressed-up for a more glamorous evening occassion.

Beach Style

If you want a really funky relaxed look, then this is the style for you.  Simply wrap the sarong around you holding the upper corners to the side of your body; ensuring the upper centre of the sarong sits above your hip.  Gather the corners and tie the sarong just below your hip.  This will allow the sarong to sit attractively across your waist.  If you are fuller in the hips you will find this style very flattering.

This style is great for a modest cover-up around the pool and is comfortable for pottering around at home.  For a shorter look, try folding your sarong into a triangular shape before tying it beach style.

Wrap

A wrap will add glamour to any outfit. By simply using your sarong as you would a pashmina you can protect your skin from the sun during the day and keep away the chill in the evening.

Tied at the Shoulder

This look is ideal when drifting from the beach to your hotel.

To achieve the look wrap the sarong under your left arm and around your body.  Holding each upper corner of the sarong pull the corners to meet above your right shoulder and tie.  Gather the sides at your waist and tie a second knot.  For a more glamorous look, gather the material at your waist using an attractive broach.

Tied over bust

Just great for leaving the beach or relaxing at home, we also find this style to be the perfect replacement for a dressing gown. Simply place the sarong around your back holding the upper corners, tie the sarong in a secure knot above your breast.

Triangular Top

This modern look works well as a casual day outfit when worn with a skirt, trousers or shorts.  To achive the look fold your sarong in half, then fold triangularly.  Wrap your now triangular sarong around your chest tying at the back.

Short skirt

This works in a very similar way to triangular top as above only of course it's a short skirt!

You don't have to wear it as short as this photo shows but I'm sure you'll agree it looks great.  The very latest fashion news is that leggings are back in!!  Just try experimenting with your sarongs tied in short skirt style over your new leggings and you will I'm sure be surprised at just how good the effect is!
